Sam Baugh Indoor
Practice Facility & Cox Field
- The Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility and Cox Field was dedicated to the TCU Athletics Department on May 10, 2007, and provides Frog student-athletes with one of the best indoor practice facilities in all of collegiate athletics.
- Following a $7-million gift from the Jane and John Justin Foundation and Cox Family, the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility and Cox Field is an 80,000-square-foot complex that features an 80-yard field with a regulation 52-yard width and two full end zones.
- The Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility & Cox Field is used by all TCU student-athletes for either practice purposes or strength and conditioning workouts away from the Texas elements. The climate-controlled facility measures 60 feet from turf to the highest point of its vaulted ceiling, which allows for all passing and kicking drills.
- Widely-recognized around the country as a model for future indoor facilities, the Linbeck Group was awarded with the 2008 AGC/Quoin Summit Merit Award sponsored by the Association of General Contractors for their efforts and was designed by Hahnfield Hoffer Stanford.
- The Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility is named after one of the greatest players in TCU as well as NFL history – Slingin’ Sammy Baugh. During the 1935 campaign, Baugh led the 12-1 Frogs to their first national championship following a Sugar Bowl victory over LSU, which would be the first of two national titles that TCU would capture in a four-year span.
Lupton Baseball Stadium & Williams-Reilly Field
- Lupton Baseball Stadium & Williams-Reilly Field officially opened for play prior to the 2003 campaign and features a capacity of 4,500 to go along with a natural grass playing surface. In addition, the field dimensions are 330 (left and right lines), 380 (left center), 370 (right center) and 400 (dead center).
- The Frogs’ home field features a spacious home clubhouse located under the main grandstand as well as indoor batting cages and an on-site training room. Lupton Baseball Stadium also features a unique two-deck structure as well as four luxury suites that allow fans to be close to the action and a picnic area down the right-field line.
- Lupton Stadium got an upgrade prior to the 2011 campaign with the addition of approximately 1,000 seats to the upperdeck.
- Lupton Baseball Stadium added an auxiliary scoreboard along the first base line, signage in the concourse area and installed a wall in the batting cages this past season. During the 2008 season, patios were added outside of right field to go along with an expanded sound system, sun covers over the bullpen seating area and remodeled team entry.
- In 2005, Lupton Baseball Stadium was wired for television games while the next season brought along a new video board, concrete around the bullpens and addition drainage behind the outfield wall. In 2007, Lupton Baseball Stadium saw the addition of the padded outfield wall, warning track, new dirt infield and the development of the Walk of Champions.
- In nine seasons playing at Lupton Baseball Stadium, the Frogs have posted an all-time record of 211-69 (.754 winning percentage) to go along with an all-time attendance of 584,977 (2,143 per game).
- In addition, the Frogs have captured a pair of Fort Worth Regional championships to go along with a Mountain West Conference crown while playing at Lupton Baseball Stadium.
- Lupton Baseball Stadium is named for Charlie and Marie Lupton in honor of their lead gift and is one of the premier facilities in all of collegiate baseball. The playing surface is named after former head coach Roger Williams and Michael Reilly, a Fort Worth businessman.
Walsh Physical Performance Complex
- The $11-million Walsh Physical Performance Complex was completed in 1996 and dedicated to F. Howard Walsh – a former TCU Board of Trustees member – along with his wife, Mary D. Fleming.
- The Walsh Physical Performance Complex is over 22,000-square-feet and is home to the Sports Medicine Center, weight room, football locker room, equipment room in addition to housing offices and dressing rooms for athletics staff members, coaches and student-athletes.
- The TCU Sports Medicine Center is situated near both the football locker room and weight room and features multiple treatment tables and full-size whirlpool tanks to provide the latest techniques in care for all student-athletes.
- The TCU Sports Medicine Center also includes the latest in NormaTac MVP recovery system, which is used by professional teams and only a handful of college programs, and is the very latest in cutting edge athlete recovery technology.
- The TCU Sports Medicine Center features a rehabilitation room, which includes all new equipment in free motion machines, stair climbers and exercise bikes.
Davis Academic Learning Center
- The Davis Academic Learning Center was designed with the goal of aiding student-athletes in their academic endeavors while achieving maximum performance inside the classroom.
- The 6,000-square-foot facility showcases the TCU Athletics Department’s commitment to helping its over 450 student-athletes succeed in the classroom while developing the necessary skills to succeed in life.
- Located on the first floor of the John S. Justin Athletic Center, the Davis Academic Learning Center features 10 tutor rooms, a computer lab, large open study room area as well as a writing lab supervised by two writing specialists trained by the TCU Writing Center.
- The Davis Academic Learning Center is also home to the Athletic Academic Services Office, which consists of a Director along with a staff of eight and countless student tutors available at all times for the needs of the TCU student-athletes.
- The Davis Academic Learning Center was made possible by the generous donation by John and Leah Davis. John Davis was a former Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Pegasus Solutions, Inc., in Dallas before coming the CEO of Birch Street Systems.
TCU Weight Room
- The TCU Weight Room was renovated in the summer 2006 to expand to 9,000-square-feet with all of the latest equipment in free weights and machines.
- The TCU Weight Room is located in the sound end zone of Amon G. Carter Stadium and is a part of the Walsh Physical Performance Complex.
- The TCU Weight Room features nine double-sided power racks with platforms, three new sets of dumbbells and 1,000-square-feet of state-of-the-art weight room flooring.
- The TCU Weight Room is spacious enough to fit multiple TCU athletics programs at one time, but gives all Frog student-athletes enough room to get the most out of their strength and conditioning programs.
