The 2009-10 TCU equestrian team made program history at nationals, placing fourth overall as a team, which is the highest finish ever at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships.

History

  • The 2008 women’s equestrian squad became the first team in Varsity Equestrian history to capture a national championship in just its second season of competition. The Frogs defeated the University of Georgia to claim the 2008 Varsity Equestrian Western National Championships. That season, the Frogs went a perfect 15-0 in Western competition.
  • Carrie von Uhlit became the first TCU rider to capture an individual national crown when she won the 2009 Varsity Equestrian Reining National Championship. Von Uhlit capped off her senior season by becoming the first rider in TCU history to be ranked No. 1 in the country in Varsity Equestrian Reining.
  • The Frogs became the first school in Varsity Equestrian history to reach the post-season in just its first year of competition as a program.
  • The Frogs garnered their highest-ever finish at the 2010 Varsity Equestrian National Championship when TCU finished the competition fourth overall in the total standings.
  • Kelsey Huffman became the first TCU rider to compete in both Reining and Horsemanship at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships.
  • The TCU riders have captured 11 world championships, including von Uhlit who captured the blue ribbon at the 2008 AQHA World Championships.
  • Lexie Estrada became the first rider in TCU history to claim the APHA High Point Award by the American Paint Horse Association, which she won in 2010.
