


The 1938 Frogs finished with an 11-0 record and became TCU’s only undefeated and untied team in program history. After capturing the Southwest Conference championship, the Frogs defeated Carnegie Tech, 15-7, in the 1939 Sugar Bowl.
Trophy Case
- TCU is one of just 20 programs nationally to have won multiple national championships (1935, 1938) and produce a Heisman Trophy winner (Davey O’Brien, 1938).
- Five Frogs have finished in the top-five in the Heisman Trophy voting, including the 1938 Heisman Trophy winner Davey O’Brien. In addition, Jim Swink (2nd, 1955), Sam Baugh (4th, 1936), LaDainian Tomlinson (4th, 2000) and Kenneth Davis (5th, 1984) have all finished in the top-five in voting.
- TCU head coach Gary Patterson has received 10 National Coach of the Year honors during his tenure with the Frogs, including nine in 2009.
- Jake Kirkpatrick became the first Frog to win the Rimington Trophy, which is presented to the nation’s top center, in 2010.
- Two-time consensus All-American and current Indianapolis Colt Jerry Hughes was the 2009 recipient of the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s top defensive end. He also received the 2009 Lott Trophy, recognizing on-field performance and character attributes.
- LaDainian Tomlinson won the 2000 Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top running back while Michael Reeder was recognized in 1995 with the Lou Groza Award as the nation’s top placekicker.
- Seven Horned Frogs received All-America honors in 2010, including five first-team selections. TC has had 45 first-team All-Americans in its history.
- In five of its six seasons in the Mountain West Conference, TCU has led the league in all-conference performers. The Horned Frogs had 17 All-Mountain West Conference selections in 2010.
- TCU has either retired or honored the following jersey numbers: 5 (LaDainian Tomlinson), 8 (Davey O’Brien) and 45 (Sam Baugh).
- TCU has won 17 conference championships in its history. The three most recent titles have come in the Mountain West Conference in 2005, 2009 and 2010. The Frogs have been ranked in the top 10 in season-ending polls four times (2005, 2008, 2009, 2010) in the last six seasons.
- TCU has led the nation in defense each of the last three seasons and five times since 2000. Since the NCAA began keeping track of statistics in 1937, no other team has led the nation in total defense as many times as the Frogs.
