Erin Lorenzen, Simone Riford and Lauren Sullivan have all been recognized as All-Americans both on the range as well as in the classroom.

Development

  • The TCU women’s rifle team was honored at the White House in September 2010 after capturing the national championship during the spring season. The Frogs were even singled out by President Barack Obama during his keynote speech to the national champions saying that the “Frogs could give Secret Service a run for their money.”
  • The TCU women’s rifle team is not only true student-athletes in every sense of the phrase, but they have also become true tourist-athletes as well. Over the last few seasons, the Frogs have traveled to every corner of the United States and have also flown outside of the continental U.S. to Alaska for a match against University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
  • Part of the well-rounded experience of being a Frog shooter is the ability to see and learn about different parts of the country that one might never have had the chance to experience. TCU head coach Karen Monez enjoying taking the team to see the local sights from the beautiful beaches of Lake Tahoe to the mesmerizing views of Alaskan ice sculptures.
  • The Frogs have never advanced to the NCAA Championships until four seasons ago, but has since posted four consecutive top-five finishes, including the 2010 NCAA National Championship. The Frogs also had the honor of being the only all-female squad of the eight competing teams at the 2009 and 2010 NCAA National Championships – the other seven teams were all co-ed programs.
  • Erin Lorenzen became the first TCU student-athlete to earn the Mountain West Conference Hal Rothman Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes one student-athlete every year for his/her sportsmanship and ethical behavior. During the air competition at the 2009 NCAA Rifle Championships, Lorenzen self-reported a misfire and subsequently received a zero score, costing Lorenzen and her team valuable points. Her unselfishness earned her one of the highest honors by the Mountain West Conference.
  • Sarah Scherer and Sarah Beard led Team USA to gold medal honors at the 2010 World Championships in Munich, Germany.
