TCU encompasses 271 acres in a residential neighborhood located five miles from the heart of downtown Fort Worth – a welcoming city with a vibrant mix of commerce, culture and entertainment.

Campus

  • TCU was founded in 1873 by Addison and Randolph Clark in Thorp Spring, Texas, as AddRan Male and Female College. The school was changed to AddRan Christian University in 1889 followed by a location change to Waco in 1885.
  • In 1902, the name was changed to Texas Christian University and was relocated to downtown Fort Worth in 1910 when the college in Waco was burned. In 1911, Texas Christian University opened three new buildings on the present campus, which has been part of the Fort Worth community for almost 100 years.

  • In recent years, TCU has invested over $360-million in new facilities in addition to upgrades to residence halls, classrooms and laboratories. Prior to the beginning of the 2008-09 academic campaign, TCU had completed or was in the midst of over $155-million in new buildings and renovations.
  • The averaged student-to-teacher ratio is 14:1.
  • TCU’s Neeley School of Business was ranked 11th in the nation by The Wall Street Journal – making it one of the top MBA programs in the country.
  • Entering the 2010-11 academic campaign, TCU will have a total enrollment of 8,853 students (7,640 undergraduate and 1,213 graduate students).
  • TCU offers 117 undergraduate areas of study along with 41 master’s level programs and 15 areas of doctoral studies.
  • TCU employees 506 full-time faculty members with 83 percent of them holding the highest degree in their discipline.
  • The Department of Communication Studies has two faculty members that ranked in the top-100 all-time active and prolific scholars in their respective fields.
  • Teacher preparation programs are accredited and pass rates average above 98 percent. Graduates are in demand throughout the region with a 100-percent hire rate.
  • The estimated annual cost, including tuition, room and board, books and fees, is $39,030.
