


The TCU Sports Medicine staff was recognized by the Mountain West Conference as the Staff of the Year in 2010.
Student-Athlete Welfare
- The TCU Sports Medicine staff features six full-time athletic trainers to go along with four graduate assistants and 30 student athletic trainers.
- The TCU Sports Medicine staff plays a major role in maintaining the health and physical well-being of all Frog student-athletes and aims to provide the highest level of sports medicine care so those who don the Purple and White can stay on the playing field.
- The TCU Sports Medicine staff was recognized by the Mountain West Conference as the Staff of the Year in 2010.
- The TCU Athletics Department is only one of a few Universities in the country to employ a full-time physician in Dr. Sam Haraldson, who works specifically with TCU’s student-athletes.
- The TCU Sports Medicine staff also features some of the best doctors in the DFW Metroplex in Mark Wylie, M.D. (Team Orthopedic Physician, Spine), Steve Brotherton, M.D. (Associate Team Orthopedic Physician), Joe Milne, M.D. (Associate Team Orthopedic Physician), Steve Meyers, M.D. (Family Practice, Sports Medicine Fellowship) and Gary Pointer, D.D.S (Dental Consultant).
- The TCU Athletics Department also features a nutritionist in Amy Goodson, who works with the department to help TCU student-athletes eat right on a daily basis.
Sports Medicine
- The TCU Strength & Conditioning staff features five full-time coaches along with one graduate assistant and numerous interns.
- The goal of the TCU Strength & Conditioning program is to make every student-athlete stronger, faster and more powerful in their respective sports.
- The TCU Strength & Conditioning program is under the direction of Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Don Sommer, who was recognized as the National Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2008.
- Sommer oversees the direction and design of programs for all TCU sports and has developed a program that stresses competition, mindset development, injury prevention, strength and speed.
- Sommer has been awarded with the prestigious certification of “Master of Strength & Conditioning Coach” at the 2003 Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCAA) National Conference, bringing a total number of MSCC’s in the world to 36 at the time of his certification.
