The DFW Metroplex is one of 13 areas in the country to have a team in each of the four major professional leagues – Dallas Cowboys (NFL), Dallas Mavericks (NBA), Texas Rangers (MLB) and Dallas Stars (NHL).

DFW Metroplex

  • According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2008 estimate, the DFW Metroplex has a population of over 6.3-million residents, making it the fourth-largest area in the country.
  • The DFW Metroplex is one of 13 areas in the country to have a team in each of the four major professional leagues – Dallas Cowboys (NFL), Dallas Mavericks (NBA), Texas Rangers (MLB) and Dallas Stars (NHL).
  • TCU is located in the fifth-largest media market in the country. The Frogs are covered daily by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which has been recognized as one of the top-10 sports pages in the nation.
  • CNNMoney.com ranked the DFW Metroplex as the fastest-growing area in the country in 2008. That year, the population of the DFW Metroplex increased by 162,250 residents.
  • The DFW Metroplex encompasses 9,286 square miles of total area with 8,991 square miles of land and 295 square miles of water. The DFW Metroplex is larger than the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut COMBINED.
  • Over 1,150 commercial flights come in and out of the DFW International Airport on a daily basis. Flights from DFW International Airport fly to more than 85 cities on a daily basis.
  • TCU is located in Fort Worth, which was established in 1849 as an Army outpost overlooking the Trinity River. The city was named in honor of Major General William Worth.
  • The TCU campus is located five miles from downtown Fort Worth.
  • Fort Worth has been ranked as one of “America’s Most Livable Communities” by CNN and USA Today.
  • Fort Worth is home to the legendary Stockyards as well as Billy Bob’s, the largest honkey-tonk bar in the world.
