Jason Tanaka
Associate Head Coach & Recruiting Coordinator
- Jason Tanaka begins his ninth season with the Frogs and his seventh season as the program’s associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.
- As a member of Lewis’ staff, Tanaka has been part of the program’s turnaround that has seen the Frogs post 157 victories during the last eight seasons (an average of 19.6 victories per season).
- The TCU associate head coach has been a major part of all six winning seasons in program history and helped guide the program to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2009 campaign.
- Tanaka has been a familiar face at the national level during his coaching career after working with USA Volleyball. In 2006, Tanaka was selected to work with the USA Volleyball Youth High Performance Program, which features 60 of the top players in the country, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
- In 2007, Tanaka was named assistant coach for the USA Select Girls’ 1A program, which featured 50 of the top 15-and-under volleyball players in the country. That season, his team finished with silver medal honors in the High Performance Tournament.
- The following summer, Tanaka worked with the USA Youth Girls A2 squad, which once again featured 50 of the top 15-and-under athletes. In 2009, the TCU associate coach was selected to coach the USA Select Continental Team.
- Prior to joining the Frogs, Tanaka served as a member of the coaching staffs at Pitt, Baylor and Arizona.
Prentice Lewis
Head Coach
- Prentice Lewis begins her ninth season as head coach of the TCU women’s volleyball program where she has become the program’s all-time leader in victories.
- The TCU head coach has posted an all-time record of 157-107 (.594 winning percentage) during her tenure with the Frogs.
- Lewis led the Frogs to their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament following a school-record 27-7 overall record. At the NCAA Tournament, the Frogs posted their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory following a 3-0 triumph over Rice in the first round.
- The TCU head coach has guided the Frogs to five consecutive 20-win seasons, which account for all 20-win seasons in TCU history.
- During the 2009 campaign, Lewis coached the program’s first-ever All-Americans in Kourtney Edwards, Christy Hudson and Megan Munce.
- Lewis has coached 14 all-conference performers during her career with the Frogs, including seven as members of the Mountain West Conference and seven as a member of Conference USA. In addition, the TCU head coach has mentored 47 Academic All-Conference award winners during her tenure.
- Lewis became the program’s all-time leader in career wins at TCU on September 4, 2005, following a 3-1 victory over Seton Hall. On September 15, 2007, Lewis claimed another milestone as she recorded her 100th career victory following a 3-0 triumph over Alcorn State.
- During her third season as head coach of the Frogs, Lewis led the program to a then-school record 23 victories en route to finishing second overall in Conference USA. That season, the Frogs advanced to the second round of the Conference USA Tournament for the first time in program history.
- During the 2008 campaign, Lewis led Nirelle Hampton and Christy Hudson to All-Mountain West Conference accolades, which was the first time that the Frogs have had two members on the all-conference team. The previous season, LeMeita Smith became the first Frog to garner All-Mountain West Conference accolades.
- Lewis became the second head coach in school history on February 5, 2002. Prior to joining the Frogs, Lewis served as an assistant coach at Florida (2000-01), Oregon (1999) and UC Irvine (1996-99).
- Lewis was a standout during her collegiate playing career as she helped Long Beach State to four consecutive Big West Conference Championships. In addition, Lewis was known as one of the nation’s marquee defensive players on the 1993 NCAA National Championships squad.
- During her senior season, Lewis led the Big West Conference in service aces and became the only defensive specialist to be selected to the U.S. Junior Olympic Festival.
Holly Jones
Assistant Coach
- Spent the previous two campaigns as the graduate assistant helping to coordinate travel, serving as the camp director of Prentice Lewis camps and running the statistical program, Data Project.
- Helped guide the team to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in her first season with the team.
- TCU set a school-record with 27 victories and posted an overall mark of 27-7 while advancing to the second round of postseason play in 2009.
- Was instrumental in the nomination process of eventual 2009 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American honorees, Megan Munce, Kourtney Edwards and Christy Hudson.
- Began her coaching career in 2003 at the Junior National level as the Co-Head coach of 13 Brazos Valley Juniors Volleyball Club.
- Has coached for several distinguished Texas clubs including Skyline Juniors and Texas Advantage Volleyball, where she served as assistant coach in addition to running positional training clinics.
- Has also been a lead camp coach for All-American volleyball camps the past two summers, overseeing and directing satellite camp operations.
- Had a successful tenure at Texas A&M University from 2002-2005.
- Was a three-year starting libero for the Aggies, helping guide the squad to four consecutive NCAA appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2003.
- From 2003-2005, she was awarded with the team’s Best Defensive Player honor and holds a place in the record books in digs per season with 461 digs in 2005, ranking fifth all-time.
- Garnered Big 12 all-academic second team in 2004 as well as first team honors in 2005.
