History
Conference Championships
- TCU has combined to win six regular-season conference or tournament championships in head coach Jeff Mittie’s tenure. The program owned none prior to Mittie’s arrival on campus.
- 2000-01 – The Frogs swept the WAC regular-season and tournament championships for the only time in program history. The squad went 13-3 in regular-season play and beat second-seeded Hawaii in the tourney final.
- 2001-02 – TCU won its second consecutive regular-season league championship in its first season competing in Conference USA with a 12-2 record.
- 2002-03 – The Frogs claimed at least one of the conference tiles for the third straight season by winning the C-USA tournament championship. The squad, which entered the tourney as the fifth seed, upset the Nos. 1, 2 and 4 seeds on the way to the title.
- 2004-05 – TCU won the C-USA tournament crown after finishing in a tie for third place in the regular season. The Frogs took down top-seeded and 11th-ranked DePaul in the semifinals before defeating No. 2 seed Louisville in the final.
- 2009-10 – The Frogs won their first title since joining the Mountain West Conference with a 12-4 regular-season record to outpace second-place BYU.
NCAA Tournament Appearances
- TCU is one of only 14 teams to have made nine NCAA Tournament appearances over the last 11 years along with Baylor, Duke, Georgia, Liberty, LSU, Rutgers, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, Tennessee, UConn and Vanderbilt.
- The Frogs were one of only 12 programs that earned seven straight bids between 2001 and 2007. Each of the last 11 seasons has ended with a TCU postseason appearance when including WNIT bids in 2008 and 2011.
- Since 2000-01, TCU and Baylor are the only schools in the state of Texas with postseason appearances all 11 years.
- 2001 – TCU made its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance on March 17, 2001 as the No. 11 seed matched up against No. 6 Penn State in the East Regional. The Frogs also earned their first tournament victory, as four players scored in double figures to lead the squad to a 77-75 win over the Nittany Lions in Ruston, La.
- 2002 – TCU opened the NCAA Tournament with its second win in the first round in as many tries, as the eighth-seeded Frogs out-played No. 9 seed Indiana during a 55-45 victory in Durham, N.C.
- 2003 – TCU was placed in an extremely tough regional as the No. 9 seed, but opened the tournament with a mild upset of No. 8 Michigan State, 50-47, thanks to 15 points from Grace Gantt and 14 points from Ebony Shaw.
- 2004 – TCU’s 2003-04 squad earned the program’s highest-ever NCAA seed at No. 6 in the West Region after entering the tournament with a 23-6 record. The Frogs posted a 70-57 win over No. 11 Temple in the first round in Philadelphia thanks to double-doubles by Sandora Irvin and Ebony Shaw.
- 2005 – One of only three TCU squads not to advance past the first round after reaching the NCAA Tournament, the seventh-seeded Lady Frogs lost a heartbreaker to No. 10 seed Oregon in Seattle, 58-55.
- 2006 – TCU advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s second round for the fifth time in six years with a first-round victory over No. 6 seed Texas A&M in Trenton, N.J. The victory tied those by the 2001 and 2004 Lady Frog squads for the highest NCAA seed defeated in program history.
- 2007 – TCU entered the 2007 NCAA Tournament with a 21-10 record and No. 10 seed in the Dayton Regional.
- 2009 – TCU reached the 2009 NCAA Tournament on the heels of a regular season marked by a fast start. TCU faced a hot opponent in the NCAA first round in Lubbock, Texas, as the 10th-seeded Frogs dropped a decision to No. 7 seed South Dakota State.
- 2010 – The Frogs, the No. 9 seed in the Memphis Regional and winners of the Mountain West Conference regular-season championship, suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of No. 8 seed Dayton in the first round in Knoxville, Tenn.
