Kerri Hanks
Assistant Coach
- Kerri Hanks, who is in her first season as an assistant at TCU, was a four-time All-America honoree at the University of Notre Dame. She is just one of 23 players ever in Division I women’s soccer history to earn All-America accolades all four season’s and the youngest recipient by class year of the Hermann Trophy, which is presented to the top female and male soccer player in NCAA Division I soccer.
- The Allen, Texas, native, who is the only Division I women’s soccer player ever to amass at least 73 goals and 73 assists in a career, finished her four years with 84 goals and 73 assists. Overall, she holds 67 records in the Notre Dame, BIG EAST Conference or NCAA record books, while also ranking in the top 25 on 10 NCAA single-season or career lists. Hanks, who ranks 13th all-time in the NCAA in career goals and is tied for second all-time in career assists, owns the fifth-longest goal scoring streak in NCAA history.
- During her senior season, Hanks became only the fourth woman ever to earn the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy twice, joining the likes of Mia Hamm, Cindy Parlow and Christine Sinclair. She is also the first two-time national player of the year honoree in any sport in the 123-year history of Notre Dame athletics.
- Following her career at Notre Dame, Hanks, who played on the United States Under-23 National Team that won the prestigious 2008 Nordic Cup, was drafted sixth overall by the St. Louis Athletica in the inaugural Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) Draft. In 2009, Hanks led New Jersey Sky Blue FC to its first Women’s Professional Soccer Championship.
Dan Abdalla
Head Coach
- Dan Abdalla enters his sixth season as head coach for the TCU women’s soccer program.
- In 2008, Abdalla led TCU to a national ranking in every national poll during the season, including a program-high RPI ranking of No. 24. TCU posted a program-best overall record of 14-4-2 in route to a semifinal appearance in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
- The Frogs also placed three players on the all-conference squad, including first-team selection and MWC Freshman of the Year Jordan Calhoun. Under Abdalla’s tutiledge, Calhoun was named a second-team freshman All-American by Soccer Buzz Magazine, while also being named one of the 32 best players in the country by Soccer News Net.
- The Frogs under Abdalla in 2008 broke nearly eary school record and finished the year with an overall conference record of 4-2-1.
- During the 2009 season, Abdalla guided TCU to nine victories and a third-straight post-season tournament appearance. That season, The Frogs climbed as high as No. 26 in the NSCAA national polls, while also jumping to No. 4 in the Pacific Region.
- Abdalla helped Jackie Torda become a national finalist for the Soccer News Net National Player of the Year award, which made her one of the top 38 players in the country for the 2009 season. The honor for Torda marked the second-consecutive season in which Abdalla has had a player up for the national honor. Torda also was named to the all-conference squad, which marked the third-straight season in which Abdalla has placed a player on the all-conference team.
- Prior to his time in Fort Worth, Abdalla posted a 54-38-8 overall record (.580 winning percentage), in his five seasons as the head of the UNLV program. He recorded at least a .500 record in each of his five campaigns despite taking over a program that had been in existence for just two years prior to his arrival. A dozen Rebels earned all-conference distinction under Abdalla and he mentored the school’s only WUSA draft pick.
- In his final season at UNLV, the Rebels claimed their first Mountain West Conference regular season title with a league mark of 5-1 and were selected as an at-large team to their first NCAA Tournament.
